We made it to Antigua after a short 24 hours and it definitely feels a whole lot more like the Guatemala we were hoping for--cobblestone roads, Spanish colonial architecture, and 16th century Catholic cathedrals all surrounded by lush green mountains and a volcano. It beats the hell out of Guat city which seemed to be nothing more than a big city that frankly didn't feel any safer than it's made out to be. We went out for a bit tn in Antigua, did some solid people watching, and scoped out our plan of attack for tomorrow night. We are staying at the Kafka hostel, and will be going on a day trip to a nearby volcano tomorrow. Should be a great couple days in the old capital of Guatemala.

Guatemala City

We made it to Guat city after a long night of travel. We are staying at the xamanek backpackers lodge and will be heading to Antigua tmw morning.
